In attending the BCM 110 lecture this week, we discussed the journey of audiences over time. We were taken on a journey through the differences and changes in the history of “The Audience”.
Upon reflection, I recalled my journey 9 years ago, as I participated as an audience member in a series of shows which set me on a path to who I am today. These shows were presented at a kids club in 2010 by Quiz Worx.
Quiz Worx tell kids the news of the Bible through stories, puppets, and visuals.
Throughout the shows, Quiz Worx told stories from the Bible, outlining the problem of sin in peoples lives. They clearly showed how sin is hated by God and how a just God cannot let people who sin in his family. This didn’t shock me. It made sense for a perfect God to not want imperfections in his creation, especially not something that actively hates and defies him.
At the end of each story, the storytellers would hint to a solution that God would provide to allow people to be friends with God again. They pointed to Jesus being that solution. They informed anyone who wanted to know more about Jesus and how to be in Gods family to chat with the leaders of the camp.
My strongest memory from that week is the hunger I was left with. Not hunger for food, but hunger for knowledge. A hunger to know who this Jesus was, how the evidence for Jesus and these claims could be trusted, and what I needed to do to fix my friendship with God.
Because I was in the audience of these shows, I searched for evidence of God and started my journey to discovering the truth of God.
4 Years later I was struck again with a hunger for the assurance of the truth of Jesus. This time the importance was so great that I spent hours talking to a youth leader until my questions were satisfied.
The most amazing ending to this story occurs 8 years later. In 2018 Quiz Worx offered me the opportunity to work with them as a casual worker for their Christmas shows. They then extended me an offer to work for them as an “intern”.
My role as a casual and intern is to share the same hope that Quiz Worx once shared for me. Here are some examples of what that looks like. I now have the chance to change a persons life in the same way that the 2010 show changed mine.

This is a very interesting blog post in regards to being apart of an audience. A religious event such as you described isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when I think of an audience but your blog has opened my eyes to a different perspective. It’s really cool that you hold this faith and event close to your heart and that you have taken an intern job with this group in hopes of changing people life like it once did to you. ‘Deus Vult”

Being part of an audience this days is not as easy as it was when we where kids, that is a truth! We have so many distractors and interests, getting access to everything we want to see is faster and way to easier, I mean, watching T.V is not the same anymore, even at a cinema people use their cellphone every time. Is rare the time when we share together our attention to something, probably in a concert. I enjoyed reading about your experience, is interesting having another point of view and another experiences shared! Xxxx
